Flower Foundation Retirement Homes has continued to expand its outreach and community development initiatives through the establishment of a new Training Centre located at Kensington Gardens in Kensington. The centre has been created with the purpose of equipping students with the knowledge, practical skills and core principles required for quality caregiving within the elderly care sector.

The year-long training programme focuses on preparing students for meaningful employment opportunities in caring for older persons, while also contributing to the growing need for compassionate and skilled caregivers within the community. This initiative forms part of Flower Foundation’s broader Outreach Programme, aimed at uplifting communities through education, empowerment and skills development.

The Training Centre is managed by Sr. Nomvula Mbokazi together with Flower Foundation’s Group Compliance Manager, Mrs René Baker, whose guidance and leadership have been instrumental in bringing the initiative to life.

The official launch of the Training Centre took place on 6 May 2026 and marked an important milestone for the organisation. The event was attended by members of Flower Foundation’s Management Board, Senior Management and relevant members, who have been part of this journey, and the first intake of students embarking on the programme. Proceedings were led by Mr Stanley Bawden, CEO of Flower Foundation and Mrs Nombuso Ramakgopa, Chairperson of Flower Foundation’s Management Board, who both shared words of encouragement and warmly welcomed the students into the Flower Foundation family as they begin their learning journey.

The launch celebrated not only the opening of a new educational facility, but also Flower Foundation’s ongoing commitment to investing in people, supporting community upliftment and helping to shape the future of elderly care through education and training.
